USA TAKE HONOURS, BUT ANGELS SHINE ON DEBUT

The battle for honours at the 49th Parallel Cup have been taken by the United States who claimed three victories from the four matches this past weekend. Flying the Canadian flag, the Northern Lights Development squad captained by Angel Lindsay Belzie was the only team to break through for a win. National team debutants Kelsey Martin and Tara Cools-Lartigue were also part of the successful squad. Kelsey Martin made it a debut to remember with two goals.

Margo and Aimee Legault fought hard for the Northern Lights premier squad but were narrowly defeated, returning the cup that was won in Toronto in 2010 back to the Americans. The Canadian men's Development squad was captained by Quebec footballer Matthew Payne and saw several of AFL Quebec's finest in Canadian colours. Unfortunately both men's teams were unable to match the USA Revolution. The results were:

Women
Canada Northern Lights 5.8 (38) def. by US Freedom 6.7 (43)
Canada Development Squad 3.6 (24) defeated US Development Squad 3.0 (18)

Men
Canada Northwind 5.1 (31) def. by US Revolution 7.12 (54)
Canada Development Squad 3.5 (23) def. by US Development Squad 8.14 (62)
